I recently had the opportunity of tasting a condiment called Pikliz Royal (pee-kleez). Pikliz is a staple condiment in Haitian cuisine and is a mix of pickled cabbage, carrots, and scotch bonnet (habanero) peppers. I tried it on a multitude of foods, including an egg omelette, ham & Swiss cheese sandwich, cheeseburger, grilled vegetables, fried pork, sweet potato fries, grilled Italian sausage, and tacos.

It’s delicious-tasting and although the “hot-version” brings some heat (not burning), there is also a mild version, which I haven’t tried. I have the “open” jar in my refrigerator and use it several times a week. If you like kimchi, you’ll love pikliz. Check out their website (Pikliz Royal: www.piklizroyal.com) and buy several jars; you won’t be disappointed!
